We chanced upon this quaint little mochi (rice cake) shop while biking around Imadegawa,  just a short walk from Karasumaoike station in Kyoto.  The shop staff were busy at work, diligently kneading out tray after tray of delicious looking mochi.

Kyoto is renowned for its super tasty wagashi ( Japanese confectionary ) and mochi is an integral part of its ingredients, so kudos to shops like this for making delicious mochi. Having some tasty wagashi served up with hot, fragrant green tea is one of the better ways to enjoy Kyoto.
