Apple trailers have just released a one minute announcement trailer for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek sequel – Into Darkness. I really liked the first film and it’s exciting to be able to work on the visual effects for this second outing.
Here are some screengrabs and the trailer below. Enjoy !
For Trekkies out there speculation is rife on the net regarding the true identity of the villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch, ( is it Khan ? ) and whose hand it is at the end of the trailer. The discussion posts on IMDB for these topics have been really entertaining to read. :]
On a side note, many a sharp eyed art lover have noted that the poster bears resemblance to the Romantic painting Wanderer above the Sea of Fog by Caspar David Friedrich – not a big stretch, I guess. This was one of the first paintings I studied as an art student and a magnum opus of the Romantic movement.
As with Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming film Pacific Rim, visual effects on Star Trek Into Darkness is done by Industrial Light & Magic, and we’re working really hard right now to get the shots looking the best they can for the film.
