The Avengers Teaser Trailer

Posted By yonghow on October 12th, 2011

An explosive teaser trailer for Joss Whedon’s much anticipated Avengers film is finally here. Here are some hi-res screen grabs from the trailer :

Avengers was shot on Arri’s digital motion picture camera Alexa and the cinematographer behind the lens is Seamus McGarvey ( see the book review New Cinematographers ) and I really love the very filmic quality of the footage – can’t wait to see how it holds up on the big screen. One of my favourite cinematographers Roger Deakins has also recently shot Andrew Niccol’s ( of Gattaca fame ) upcoming film “In Time” using Alexa.

There’s still plenty of work to be done and work can only get busier, but things are looking fantastic. Avengers will be released in early May 2012.

Head on over to Apple Trailers for the glorious HD version.

I think that’s the same camera that was used to film ‘Drive’. If so, it may be the camera closest to replicating the look of film, at least to my eye. The only significant tell (again, to my novice eye) is that night shot with Iron Man flying, which has the clarity at that depth of field that HD digital can provide. Color tone and detail level are similar to the night scenes in Collateral and some in Drive.

The fact that Edward Norton (The original actor that played Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk) is not here disturbs my viewing experience.

After all the effort to gather all the original actors, He is not in the movie and it is a shame and I must say many agree by reading fans opinions.

The rest of the movie however is really cool. I cant wait to watch this.

I wish Edward Norton reprised his role in the Avengers too but Mark Ruffalo isn’t bad a choice, I think. I’m so excited to watch this!

it must be so easy for them to make these movies. just from being around around it and living in Pittsburgh, i know that the filming of The Dark Knight Rises has been insane. they can’t do anything without someone posting something about it online. though, i suppose that is what you get when you try to film in practical locations rather than green screen.

back on track, the Marvel Studios movies have not impressed me, and although the special effects looked pretty good in the Iron Man series, they have still yet to catch my fancy.

to add to my last comment, i have to say, what i have seen around my city, though, The Dark Knight Rises is going to be something very special.

King Raoh – Been hearing good things about “Drive”, hope to see it soon !

Zack – :] Must have been some exciting stuff you’ve seen. I’ve not been disappointed with any of Nolan’s films yet, really looking forward to this one.
