The offical site for ILM’s first animated feature Rango (directed by Pirates of the Carribean Gore Verbinski and starring Johnny Depp) has been updated with a slew of tasty new eye candy including hi res images from the film, screensavers, cast and characters introduction, and more. Below are some of the highlights :
Rango will be released on the 4th of March ( 10th in Singapore ), which is just a little more than a month away. All of us at ILM are really stoked to see the completed film on the big screen, finally !

This will be the best CG animated film besides LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS & WALL-E (both visionary art masterworks)…

This movie’s art direction is spectacular. It’s photo realistic yet it manages to have such a unique look. And it also seems to have a lot of dark humor (first pic…), not something that’s very common in CG animation.

Hina – I would describe the look as “stylized photorealism”. Humor is a little different from the usual animated feature too, like you mentioned. :]
