New poster and trailer for ILM’s animated film Rango

Posted By yonghow on December 16th, 2010

A quirky ensemble of fantastical menagerie joins the befuddled chameleon in the new poster and trailer for Johnny Depp/Gore Verbinski’s Rango, slated for release on the 4th of March 2011. (17th March for Singapore.)

This is visual effects house Industrial Light & Magic’s (ILM) first foray into animated feature films, and it’ll be interesting to see how the movie will perform, including critical response from audiences all over the world. I’m fairly excited here. Go Rango go !

ps. Just in case you’re wondering, the wind-up toy fish that Rango is cuddling is Mr Timms, and he’s got a website of his very own right here.

I have a feeling this movie might just win the Academy Award for best animated feature. I’m 100% sure it’ll get at least a nomination! πŸ˜‰

But, I gotta say, I feel sorry for the poor bird… πŸ™

FAUNA

Very excited for this…

I agree with Hina.
This looks to be an amazing movie πŸ˜€

I don’t know what, but the animation’s art style is different from the normal.
Pretty cool.

Zack

it’s so textured and realistic. hyperbolic reality is supplementing as style, and it really works. it’s almost like Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit, in that it’s full of anthropomorphic animals, yet the style is so delicately adhered to the artist’s interpretation of photo-reality.

that may sound stupid, but in short, it’s different because the animal designs have not been dumbed down and in it’s absurdity, it makes an entirely fantastic looking adventure even more fantastic.

Hina : An Oscar nomination will be nice !

Fauna – Ditto that. :]

Rafael – That’s right, the look is definitely something we’ve not seen before.

Zack – I would call it stylized photorealism perhaps, and I agree with what you said in your 2nd paragraph. Only about 2 more months to go. :]

Amazing level of animation, a step forward i think! DonΒ΄t know why, but the audio gives a very belivable sensation when the turtle gives the insignia to Rango. way to go ILM!
