I must be one of only a handful of folks who actually enjoyed Chloe Zhao’s Eternals (2021); I found her direction full of sensitivity and pathos when exploring the story of a group of super-powered beings seeking their identity, place and purpose in the world. To top that off, the visual aesthetics of the film is excellent, in particular the character/costume designs as well as the overall art direction and production design.
This art book is an in-depth and comprehensive exploration of that, running the gamut from the costume/character designs for each of the individual Eternals, their sworn enemies the Deviants as well as their creator, the god-like cosmic beings the Celestials. There are also a good number of visdev pieces that explore the main set pieces featured in the film, from the Aztec/Mayan pyramids, the Babylonian gardens to the atomic bomb wrecked Hiroshima as well as interiors of the Eternals spacecraft, the Domo.

IMHO, It is a real pity indeed that for whatever reasons this very tastefully directed, good looking film was not well received at the box office, which sealed the fate of any possible future sequels. For the minority few like me who actually enjoyed the movie, this art book is a splendid showcase and exploration of the stunning visdev work and comes recommended.
