Gustav Klimt : The Complete Paintings by Taschen is the biggest art book I’ve ever purchased, measuring 18 x 12.5 x 3 inches ( 45 x 31.25 x 7 cm ) and spanning a whopping 676 pages. The book is an exuberant celebration of the huge body of art work by the Symbolist painter, reproduced in stunning and vivid quality.
Flipping through the book I’m continually amazed by Klimt’s versatility in his style and genre of work, from realistic still life portraits to landscapes and highly stylized, graphic art.
(below) Many reproductions in the book fold out to reveal a much wider, more panoramic view of the art work.
Klimt’s paintings of women are a beautiful blend of eroticism and sensuality. I’m also intrigued by his color sense; he employs a really wide gamut of colors but they never seem to fight each other, but instead gel harmoniously.
The book comes in an attractive, yet sturdy cardboard carry case and keeps the book in pristine shape during shipping.
I adore Klimt’s art work and this grand book is the perfect way to study and admire his paintings with the exceptional quality of the reproductions, both in size and fidelity. This one gets my highest recommendations.

Out of curiousity, does the book contain any drawings or paintings of men? I don’t recall ever seeing a Klimt drawing of man (unless you count the guy in the kiss), it’s always women that I see.

There are actually, some portraits of men, and male figures can also be found in some of the bigger group paintings. As you mentioned however, most of the time Klimt’s subject matter are women. 😛
