The Art Of Doom Book Review

The Art Of Doom is the official making of art book for id Software’s reboot of the original Doom (1993), one of the pioneering first-person shooter video games. I’m still making my way through the game, having spent too much time on this other title, also by Bethesda.

The art book features a huge collection of concept art/digital sculpts for the many demons and creatures which players of the original game will recognize, including the Imp, Cacodemon, Hell Knight, Mancubus, Revenant and more. Also included are environment designs, weapons and costumes designs for the numerous UAC personnel.

This long awaited reboot of Doom has been a long time coming with some setbacks and delays, but the end product is worth the wait. I’m taking my time with the game to fully explore the rich creature and detailed environment designs, and this book is a great companion for anyone who wants to delve into deeper into the creation of these game visuals. Recommended.

DISTRAKT

I’m still making my way through the game as well. Trying to squeeze it in between modeling and animating is tough.
