A graceful and ethereal female form stands watch over the tomb of a certain Jacques Theron in Montparnasse Cemetery, Paris, not 5 minutes from where I was staying. The superb artistry and craftsmanship of the sculpt allows one to easily imagine her soft, silken robes and flowing hair billowing gently in the morning breeze.
The cemetery is the final resting place for many artistic luminaries, the likes of Charles Baudelaire, Constantin Brancusi, Henri Langlois, Man Ray, and many more. I’m ashamed to say that I failed to do my homework diligently and only just found out William Bouguereau, one of my favourite painters of all time, was buried here. Had I been better informed I would certainly have gone to pay my respects.

That last sculpture is my favorite. The pose on that toddler and the apparition behind it is something else. Such great narrative design and your photograph seemed to have only enhanced it.

weigy – Thank you. :] I was equally taken in by the gesture of the boy holding on to the hand from the figure behind.
