Granblue Fantasy グランブルーファンタジー is a Japanese RPG mobile game developed by Cygames. The character designer for the game is Minaba Hideo, who served as art director on numerous Final Fantasy titles.
Because of its high popularity, the game was also adapted into an anime series, with 2 seasons produced so far. While I’ve not actually seen the series, I do like the beautiful illustrations that were painted for the home video ( blu-ray ) release; I’ve collected all the cover art for the 2 seasons below; check them out –
I’m not entirely sure if these were illustrated by Minaba Hideo as well; does anyone know ? In any case, I highly recommend checking out the art book for the game, which showcases some really stunning concept art and illustrations.
I also suggest checking out the Steam Reverie In Amber Illustration Book by Kuroimori (黒イ森); I find that their illustration styles somewhat similar.
I’ve not had the chance to check out the actual game but I certainly enjoy the beautiful character designs and overall superb quality of art work featured in this art book. Folks who are looking for references on fantasy character/costumes designs will find this book of great interest too.

I’m a real fan of the Granblue Fantasy anime art as well. I love those cover images.
Thanks for the reminder on the artbook too — I had been meaning to order it but then completely forgot about it. I’ll add it to my next Amazon Japan purchase.

I enjoyed the first season, not knowing really anything about the game franchise. I haven’t watched season 2 yet, however.
I would say season 1 is a solid fantasy series, and worth a watch, but not something I would place in an annual best-of list.
