Tangled, a retelling of the classic fairy tale Rapunzel is the best Disney animated film I’ve seen in more than a decade. The last Disney production that gave me that intoxicating and magical feeling of wonder was the brilliant Fantasia 2000, ( Tarzan to a lesser extent ), and then its all the waaay back when I was kid watching Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, more than 20 years ago.
Pretty as these stills are, they do no justice to the astounding quality of animation; you really have to see the film in all its animated glory to fully appreciate the amazing work the animators have put into this movie.
Lastly, I would urge you to eschew the 3D version of the film; the glasses tend to reduce the brightness of the picture quite a bit ( not to mention intermittent blurriness ) and you’ll miss out on the lusciously beautiful details of the painterly canvas that is certainly the visual highlight of Tangled.
For folks who have already seen the film, I’ll love to hear you comments. :]

3D animation today is in a such incredible level, that scares me!
Since the perfection in lightnings and even imperfections on character’s skin.
For me, mainly those amazing background arts.
But Mr. Yonghow, did you saw Pixar’s & Disney’s “UP”?
I would say it’s one of their best works, althought I’ve not saw “Tangled” yet…

I’ve been wanting to see this. From the trailers alone, the quality of the animation is quite obvious. With the subtle details and movements to the great design of the characters and backgrounds, I haven’t been excited for a Disney movie since Mulan or Lilo & Stitch.
Thought I haven’t seen the movie in it’s entirety yet, I find it a bit annoying to read reviews of the movie that focus on the transition from 2D to 3D for Disney and how Alan Menken’s songs are subpar compared to the old films. They should just review Tangled as a stand alone film from Disney and stop pitting every new film of theirs to the classics.

Rafael – Yup, Up looks amazing, if I’m not wrong its the first film that Pixar utilized subsurface scattering, which gives it that fantastic soft glow look.
Otto – Haha, I understand what you mean with the comparisons. I think people compare them because its the most convenient way to gauge the quality of the film, that is by putting it beside something one is familiar with.
Nubian – Go watch it the day its released, really ! Haha. :]

I am not that fond of Rapunzel’s story though. But when Disney retold this story, it made me want to watch it. In fact I watched this one in theaters and I have no regrets. I like its funny side especially when the horse(forgot its name) defeated the male protagonist in the sword fight. I actually didn’t see that coming! Really great! Hilarious!
