空は世界のひとつ屋根 ( Sora Wa Sekai No Hitotsu Yane / The Sky Is The Roof Of The World ) is a comic by Japanese manga artist Tsuruta Kenji, well known for his previous work Spirit Of Wonder.

The premise of the manga takes place on the fictitious island Okunotorishima ( likely based on the real life Okinotorishima / 沖ノ鳥島 ) located on the remote coast of southern most Japan. Working as the airport runway chief there is Shitodoba Seresso (神鳥葉桜/シトドハ・セレッソ), and the story follows her mundane and laid back life on the island surrounding by beautiful azure seas.

There isn’t really a strongly defined story structure going on here, and the manga is more of a mood piece carried by the lovely charm of Tsuruta Kenji’s gorgeous coloredd illustrations, numbering 96 out of the book’s 120 page count.

I love Tsuruta Kenji’s drawings and his colored illustrations even more, so this one was an easy purchase for me, especially given that the manga is almost fully colored and going for just 1500 yen ( about $10 ). Highly recommended.
