This official companion book for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel takes us behind the scenes on the art and making of Alien Covenant, with a mix of concept art pieces, on set photography and final film stills.
By comparison to the art book for Prometheus ( which has about the same page count ), this book scores lower on the number of actual concept art pieces, with photography and film stills taking up more of the book’s volume. There is quite a wealth of content with regards to the making of the Xenormorph creatures and facehugger, but again, more with with stills than concept art.
Just like the prequel film that came before it, Alien Covenant bears the hallmark of Ridley Scott’s rich tapestry of visual design and is a sheer feast for the eyes ( story notwithstanding ). This book is a great guide and companion to further explore the film-making that went on behind the set, although I do wish more pages could have been set aside for concept art pieces.

Awesome. Caught this film in Imax, like Prometheus, I thought it looked gorgeous, especially for Imax. Fantastic cinematography.
I liked that you put the Neomorph as the 1st picture to this post. Thought the creature looked really cool in the film.

Martin/Distrakt – I mostly enjoyed the photography and great art direction/creature design rather than the story. Perhaps I might warm up more to it in future viewings. :p

Got the book and i gotta agree, it has more stills than concept art which was a bit of a bummer for me. I wanted more sketches and development work. That said, the book had such a great cover i had to buy it.
