The Ghibli Museum (三鷹の森ジブリ美術館) is a museum showcasing the work of the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli. It is located in Inokashira Park in Mitaka, Japan.
This book is the official catalogue for the museum and is only available for purchase within the museum ( but some select copies are available on Amazon Japan; see more details below ). The contents include pictures of the various permanent exhibits found in the museum, interviews with the museum creators like Miyazaki Hayao, a list of the short films screened at the Saturn Theatre and more.
Over the years several updated editions of the catalogue has been published, and this is the 4th edition ( 31st October 2017 ) which I picked up during my recent trip to the museum in 2019. The first edition was published in 2002.
(image above) The giant Castle In The Sky robot can be found on the roof top of the museum.
(image below, right) The Saturn Theatre, where Ghibli short films are screened, including films like The Day I Bought A Star, Mei and The Kitten Bus and more. A list of the short films are found in this catalogue.
Ghibli Museum is a magical place to visit and this catalogue is a perfect way to remember the sights you saw at the place. The catalogue can only be purchased at the museum, but select copies can be found on Amazon Japan.
