Mysterious Scenes From A Dark Fantasy World (情緒的な風景を描 – ダークファンタジ) is the 4th art book from a series published by PIE Books dedicated to illustrations of beautiful scenery and landscapes. I previously reviewed two other books from the series as well – Everyday Scenes From A Parallel World and also Retrospective Scenes From A Sentimental World.
This fourth book’s theme is “Dark Fantasy” and explores richly illustrated worlds with a more moody and somber atmosphere, in contrast to the bright and sunny vistas from the earlier books in the series.
(above & below) Art work by Demizu Posuka; be sure to check out my review of the artist’s excellent art book Pone. Demizu’s work are also featured in Illustration 2020, a showcase of Japanese’s top illustration talents.
(image below) The larger than life animal illustrations of Monokubo (もの久保). Check out my review of her art book Megasia.
This is a great addition to the earlier three books already published; check out my reviews for two in the series – Everyday Scenes From A Parallel World and also Retrospective Scenes From A Sentimental World.
The large square format of the art book shows off the details and colors of every art work to great effect; The huge number of contributing artists also make this book a great catalogue for discovering some of the best Japanese illustrators working out there right now. Highly recommended.
