Hellboy and the BPRD : 1955-1957 Comic Review

I love these ‘Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.’ series. They expand upon and explore the wide occult universe of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy universe with fascinating and interesting stories and characters, and further more the often changing roster of guest artists also allow me plenty of opportunities to discover amazing comic talents that are completely new ( to me ).

Book synopsis – Join Hellboy and his fellow B.P.R.D. agents on globe-trotting horrifying mystery adventures from a fire ghost in a forgotten dinosaur theme park to vengeful demons in Hong Kong, Cold War weapons tests that lead to mutilated monsters in the South Pacific to a forgotten ghost in a NYC potter’s field and more, plus the true story of Hellboy’s turn on the silver screen in Mexican luchador films!

This volume collects Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. across volumes 1955, 1956, and 1957, from a slew of extraordinary talents including Mike Norton, Alison Sampson, Shawn Martinbrough, and more in this new hardcover edition !

Reading a Hellboy or B.P.R.D. comic drawn by it’s original creator Mike Mignola is always thrilling, but I say definitely don’t sleep on these stories that are drawn by guest artists as well. I’ve personally discovered many amazing artists through these series like Paolo Rivera and Laurence Campbell, both featured in this book. Recommended.
