The Art Of The Wind Rises is the official art book for Miyazaki Hayao’s latest Ghibli animated film Kaze Tachinu. The art book (277 pages) is filled full of gorgeous background art plates, image boards, character and plane design sheets and more.
(above left) A sample of the colored storyboards that Miyazaki-san drew for the film. All the storyboards from the film can be found in the storyboard book (I’ll post the review in the coming week). Although only select sequences are colored and not all (unlike the storyboards for Ponyo, which is 100% full color), it is still amazing to look at.
(above & below) Posters for the film can be found near the end of the book, as well as the entire Japanese screenplay for the film. It’s a great asset for learning Japanese.
Ghibli’s Art Of books have never disappointed, and neither does this one. Highly recommended.
