A beautiful collection of art work from one of Ghibli’s new wave of young directors. With Miyazaki-san retired ( for now 😛 ), it will be up to new talent like Hiromasa Yonebayashi to carry on the amazing work that the studio has done so far.

Five image, from the top…could those research sketches could be more expresiive ? I mean, if the such called “minimalism” as Bauhaus concept,or “less is more” is applied to character design, this is it. I think i could stare at them for hours. I think that’s one of the most powerful thingss of Ghibli.

The animators in Japan have mastered the skill of creating the most expressive faces with the least amount of strokes, I think. :]
