We’ve looked at the beautiful watercolor storyboards in Part I, now let’s move on to the concept and background art for Ponyo. ( By the way, Ponyo is in competition at the Venice Film Festival 2008, may it take the Golden Lion home ! ) よしゃ！Here we go !

It looks quite interesting this book considering I’m always amazed by Ghibli background layouts.
I confess I’m not familiar with this movie yet. I’m still waiting for a DVD release because I don’t live in Japan so I didn’t watch this film in the cinema.

Unfortunately yonghow it’s hardly unlikely for this film to be released in the cinema where I live, in Brazil.
The last Ghibli movie in the cinemas here was Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi(Spirited Away), the rest of the movies are always released in DVD only.
The art book is so good. I’ll just have to wait for the English version to come out.
