This book is a collection of genga (key frame drawings) from the hit anime series Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin), adapted from the hugely popular manga of the same name by Isayama Hajime. The story revolves around humanity’s battle against the sudden appearance of bizarre, man-eating giants called Titans.

Volume 1 covers genga drawings from episode 1 to 3, including those from promotional videos and the ending sequence. The first few pages feature several key poster illustrations used to market the film. (images below)

Attack On Titan really impressed me with the superb quality of animation throughout the series, and the storyline is absorbing and intriguing as well, which is probably why it has garnered such a huge following in a relative short amount of time.

Given that the drawings cover only material from the first 3 episodes, many of the more exciting fight sequences are missing. There are also too many drawings of head shots ( I’ve omitted them here ) in the book, which is somewhat repetitive and adds little value to the overall content.

I’m looking forward to future volumes that cover some of the more extensive fight sequences, like those involving the rogue titan, as well as the first fight between Reiner and the female titan. I’m also hoping the publishers will release an additional “art of” book for the series featuring character design, background art, layout boards to supplement this series of genga books.

Great review, I wanna take a look a this book and the series too.
I don’t if you ever had your hands on the groundworks of gurenn lagan and panty & stocking. They have great material inside, they would be great companions to this book.

lyane- I highly recommend you check out both. :]

Thanks for your recommendations on both the books, I’ve yet to review either of them as I have not yet watched the anime.

Love your illustration work by the way, it’s amazing ! :]
