Even if you do not work in the visual effects (VFX) industry, but love watching movies, especially films with fantastic visual effects, you would likely have heard of the name Industrial Light & Magic, or ILM. Initially created by George Lucas to bring the visual effects of his first Starwars movies to life, ILM went on to create some of the most spectacular movie magic the world has ever since, including groundbreaking imagery for films like Terminator 2 & Jurassic Park.
Disney+’s upcoming 6 part documentary series titled Light & Magic charts the exciting history and achievements of this amazing company; check out the trailer below –
I am very lucky indeed to have worked at ILM from 2009 to 2015, helping to create the visual effects for movies like The Avengers, Rango, Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol, 2 Transformers films and more. Just like what the trailer mentioned, it really is the boundless energy of the utterly talented crew that help make ILM such a great place to work and learn. I’m really looking forward to the documentary !
