During my recent time in Tokyo I was really fortunate to visit 2 animation studios, the first been Studio Orange, known for their excellent work on the recent Trigun Stampede animation series. A little while back Orange producer Yoshihiro Watanabe was visiting Vancouver and had reached out to me to meet for a coffee, but I was neck-deep in Spider-Man : Across The Spider-Verse and couldn’t find the time. But since I already had plans to visit Tokyo later in May, I suggested we meet up in Japan instead and Yoshihiro-san graciously agreed to let me visit the studio as well.
Orange’s main production studio is located in the Musashino area of Tokyo, close to the Musashi-Sakai train station and not too far from where I used to stay in Tanashi. Side story; I actually bumped into Hayao Miyazaki many many years ago right here in Musashi-Sakai.
(above) The studio even has it’s own space for motion captures, cool !
(above & below) A good animation studio always have their own stash of mangas and art books for the artists to enjoy and/or find inspiration. I had my own personal stash of Dragonball comics when I was working at Sunrise Ogikubo.
Big thanks to Yoshihiro Watanabe @crazynabe producer at Orange @cg_orange_inc for giving me a tour of the studio. They are doing some amazing work here including #TRIGUNSTAMPEDE pic.twitter.com/ubapV9JY25

After the visit I went for lunch with Yoshihiro-san near the station and we had a really great chat talking about all things animation-related. Orange is doing amazing work on series like Trigun Stampede, and I’m definitely looking forward to more of their new projects in the future ! I want to thank producer Yoshihiro Watanabe again for showing me around the studio despite his busy schedule.
