The Angoulême International Comics Festival 2024 ( Jan 25 – Jan 28 ) is one of the world’s biggest comic events and has been held annually in France since 1974. One of the highlight exhibitions this year was for the manga Blade Of The Immortal (無限の住人) by Samura Hiroaki (沙村広明), which I’m a really big fan of.
Here are some photographs of the exhibition and the art work that were on display, courtesy of Kodansha and the Tokyo based French comics bookstore Maison Petit Renard.

How I wish I could have seen Samura Hiroaki’s art work up-close and in person ! Looking at the photographs, his original drawings and illustrations are quite a big bigger than I had imagined. If you are new to Blade Of The Immortal, I highly recommend the deluxe omnibus editions; check out my reviews for Vol 1 and Vol 2. ( see image below )

Cool stuff. Do you know what size Samura was working at?

Hello – I’m not entirely sure ! If I had to hazard a guess, I’ll say it is definitely a bigger size than the Japanese tankobon size and much closer to the US Tankobon size.
