New Katsuhiro Otomo Manga - The Mood Is Already Of War Sequel

My apologies for the slower pace of blog updates recently – I’ve been working long hours on Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man : Far From Home film and have had little time to catch up on stuff.

Anyway, the manga community on twitter Japan ( and subsequently across the globe ) has been abuzz with news of Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo’s long awaited new manga, a sequel to his 1982 work Kibun Wa Mou Senso – The Mood Is Already Of War ( read my review here ). Otomo is once again collaborating with novelist Yahagi Toshikiko, who is writing the story.

The story behind the original manga revolved around narratives on the Cold War, but I’m not quite sure what the new one will be about yet. A preview 7 page cut of the manga is now available in the Japanese magazine Action Comics.

I look forward to reading the manga in full when it is released and will of course review it here as well. Stay tuned !

Update April 30th – Chapter 1 of the manga is now published ! Read my review here.

@Gustavo Pabon: and let’s hope we’ll have a translation and release for the original series too.

This is welcome news. Always happy to hear about new works from the master.

I actually just got the 35th anniversary box set of Akira in the mail today (the nice hardbacks will replace my well worn paperbacks from Dark Horse).
