Tokyo - Spring Trip 2024

I’ve been traveling for almost 2 months after finishing visual effects work on a yet to be released film project, first a couple of weeks in my hometown of Singapore and then 2 weeks in Tokyo before returning to Vancouver. As usual the jetlag is starting to kick in, but I’ve already started to sort through and edit the many photographs I’ve taken, so stay tuned for more coming soon.

It has been a good many years ( more than a decade if my memories serves me well ) since I had the opportunity to visit Tokyo during the Sakura season, and they are just as mesmerizing as I remember. The blossoming of the Sakura trees hold special significance in Japan not simply for their beauty but also symbolizes the start of a new cycle especially for many a young Japanese, as school terms and newly hired university graduates start work in April.

Just like my 2023 trip I was able to connect with some really old friends/colleagues as well as making some new ones. I was also able to visit quite a few art exhibitions and events and I will write about them in the days to come.

Of course, a trip to Tokyo won’t be complete without some cool Japanese art book acquisitions, and I’ll be posting the reviews in the coming days to come. I also have a number of English art books that I have to get reviewed as well.

Thank you for the support all this time as always !

Thanks for posting your travel photos again. Love Sakuras & rail crossing, and the 5 Centimeters per Second video … “One more time, one more chance…”. Great stuff!
