Great news for fans of Shirow Masamune (士郎正宗), the legendary manga artist and creator of such iconic comic titles like Ghost In The Shell, Appleseed, Dominion, Orion and Black Magic; come April 12th to October 17th 2025 the Setagaya Literary Museum in Tokyo will be holding The World Of Shirow Masamune manga exhibition (士郎正宗の世界展), showcasing genga ( original drawings ) of his aforementioned works, with a focus on Ghost In The Shell.
I’m of course a very big fan of Shirow’s work and have reviewed many of his manga/art books over the years, and so I’m really excited to be able to attend the exhibition during my upcoming Tokyo trip in May this year. I’m hoping there’s a fat and juicy catalogue art book planned for the exhibition and will certainly be documenting the exhibition during my visit, so stay tuned !
You can find out more about the exhibition here ( in Japanese language only ) – ttps://www.shirow-masamune-ex.jp

Love seeing Masamune Shirow’s work getting a new exhibition. The design of the promotional materials you’ve posted are cool, too. I’d love it if they do a nice exhibition catalog and make it available for ordering (maybe CDJapan will offer it via their proxy service).
