Utilizing traditional Japanese painting (Nihonga) techniques, artist Ikenaga Yasunari creates mesmerizingly beautiful and elegant portraits of Japanese women, adorned in clothes decorated by exquisite textile designs. This book (One Hundred Nights Of Bliss) features about a hundred pieces of his painstaking art work.
Ikenaga creates his paintings by dropping Japanese paint into canvas by means of a Menso brush, using a combination of media, materials and finishing that include mineral pigments, gelatin glue, soot ink and occasionally gold leaf to bring highlight to select areas of the paintings.
A collection of beautiful Japanese art that skilfully combines the techniques of the traditional with contemporary subject matter. My highest recommendations.

It reminds a bit of Vania Zourvliov drawings, which is a big compliment.
