Trash! Trash! Trash! - Rockin' Jellybean Exhibition, Tokyo Spring Trip 2023

Warning : The following post contains nudity/adult content.

I’m a big fan of Japanese illustrator Rockin’ Jellybean, so when I found there that he had an exhibition during my time in Tokyo recently, I knew a visit was in order. It was a mini exhibition titled Trash! Trash! Trash! held at a tiny gallery space called VOID in Koenji. Tokyo.

Rockin’ Jellybean is a contemporary of Katsuya Terada and Hajime Sorayama, both extraordinary artists who are also know for their forays into erotic and naughty art, all done very tastefully. As you can see especially from some of the graphite art pieces below, Rockin’ Jellybean is a cross-hatching fiend with his splendid draftsmanship.

(image above) Copies of the artist’s 2014 art book Rockin’ Jellybean, which I highly recommend. While this is is only monograph art book to date, there are several other publications for exhibitions that he collaborated with Katsuya Terada and Hajime Sorayama. I’ve listed them below –

Pussy Cat ! Kill ! Kill ! Kill ! – The first collaboration between the three artists (2014).
Tokyo Sweet Gwendoline – The 2nd collaboration (2018).
Dominatrix Heaven – Third collaboration (2022).
Rockin’ Jelly Bean – The Birth Of Rockin’ Jelly Bean

@Stuart I love the duality of ALMOST emptying the machine. The impulse towards absolute greed balanced by the desire to preserve some dignity.

Great post as always Yonghow!

Gabriel
