I’m not a follower/collector of Marvel comics but Esad Ribic’s Thor & Loki : Blood Brothers piqued my interest because of the exceptional art work found inside.
I like the detailed and painterly style of the artist, which gives a certain 3-dimensional quality to the images, especially the rendering of flesh and fabric. The composition of the subjects in the panels are also very cinematic.
(below) A few select pages of character concept and development sketches. I was wondering if the latest THOR film took references from this graphic novel, especially the shots of Loki seated in his throne.
(above) Not digging the cover art illustration- I think there are much better images found in the book, but the contents are definitely worth a look. Recommended.
I also suggest check out the artist’s Marvel Monograph art book.

“Thor and Loki” is the best book painted by Esad Ribic. He made some others, amongst them a Silver Surfer but the result is not so brilliant and looks rather like a cheap imitation of Alex Ross.
