The Mythical Animals Art/Illustration Exhibition Tokyo

The Spring and Summer seasons in Tokyo are excellent times for planning a visit not only for the beautiful cherry blossoms and lovely weather, but also because it is the period where many art exhibitions are held.

The Netflix animation film that I’m working on will be delivered soon and I’ll be heading to Tokyo in early May for a break, and have already lined up quite a few exhibitions to see, namely the Shirow Masamune/Ghost In The Shell Genga exhibition, The Manga That Nurtured Katsuhiro Otomo exhibition, and this – The Mythical Animals Art/Illustration exhibition.

The exhibition will showcase art work and illustrations by 14 artists ( you can see the full list in the poster for the exhibition above ), with 2 particular artists that I’m big fans of; Higuchi Yuko, whose excellent art book ‘Talk About Films And Posters 映画とポスターのお話’ I reviewed last year, as well as Daisuke Igarashi, the manga artist behind Children Of The Sea.

I’m certain the other participating artists, unknown only to me because of my ignorance, are no slouches either, and I am excited to see their work as well. The exhibition will be held at the Boris Zakkaten in Omotesando in Tokyo and will run from March 10th to June 3rd 2025, so if you’re in the city during this period, don’t miss it.

I’ll report back with photographs ( and hopefully a special exhibition catalog art book ) when I return from my trip in late May.

Here’s the official website for more information ( in Japanese only ).
