I think I qualify as a loyal acolyte of Hiroaki Samura’s art work having followed his Blade Of The Immortal manga series for the past 15 years or so. Here’s a collection of his Japanese tankobon covers from volume 19 to 29, the latest one published in late May 2012. Enjoy ! –
In the comments section of the post Geijutsu Shincho Magazine – Otomo Special there was a discussion on the rarity of manga artists using traditional media these days. I can’t be 100% sure but Hiroaki-san seems to be one such artist, using a combination of maybe gouache/acrylic? and also pastel sticks, I think.
I’m really hoping there will be a volume II for his Blade Of The Immortal art book ( read review here ), surely there’s enough content with these covers as well as the beautiful black and white illustrations that come with each chapter.
If you can stomach very graphic depictions of BDSM content I also highly recommend his “Brutal Love” art book. ( read review here ). The subject matter is controversial, but the quality of the art work is unparalleled.

19, 24, 26, and 29 are by far my favorites of those. i love it when he uses really bright color in his work; for some reason it just really strikes me. he is a fantastic illustrator, and probably one of the best still using mostly traditional means today.
