I’ve been rather enjoying the new Diablo IV announcement video conjured up by the brilliant artists at Blizzard’s cinematic division, which is considerably spooky and macabre. Check it out below :
Besides been impressed by the excellence of the CG visuals, Lilith’s substantial horns quickly reminded me of Tim Curry’s peerless performance as the mortifying Lord Of Darkness in Ridley Scott’s fantasy film Legend, which really frightened me as a kid.
I’ve only ever played the first Diablo video game back in the day and I certainly remember enjoying it, but it seems Diablo IV does not have singleplayer mode, which is rather disappointing. I would probably have picked it up if it is.

And the big veil reminds me The Cell.

I thought the game have singleplayer, what it doesn’t have is offline. It is suppose to be like Destiny where you can play alone but can see others players around in certain areas.

Li-An – Oh yes, The Cell indeed !
2D-guy – Thanks for the clarification, my understanding of the singleplayer gameplay mode was probably incorrect.

I really don’t want to see other players running around. Kinda ruins the feel of isolation. Still hyped, though.
As for the vid, it reminded me of Hellraiser. I’m impressed with how dark they went.

Deckard – Much agreed. If it has decent single-player mode I might still pick it up.
I think the game is aiming for a slightly older demographic, folks who started with the original Diablo are all adults now…
