Warcraft – Behind The Dark Portal explores the making of Duncan Jones’ epic fantasy film, based on Blizzard’s hugely popular World Of Warcraft game series.
The book’s contents are divided into 2 parts ( The Alliance/The Horde ) and runs the gamut from character designs for the hero orcs and humans, weapons and props design, concept art illustrations for the numerous fantasy environments including Draenor, The Black Morass, Dalaran and more.
(above middle ) King Magni, ruler of the dwarves. I had the good fortune of lighting him in one of the few close up shots in the film. All that hair and beard required quite a bit of digital grooming.
Despite a somewhat lukewarm response to the film by critics and the box office I had great fun working on the show, and the visual effects are still stunning to behold.
This art book covers a very comprehensive making of the film, and I especially like the concept art pieces for the fantasy settings, all which are appropriately epic. Recommended.
