A veteran of the manga industry, Japanese illustrator Hiroyuki Asada (浅田弘幸) is known for his comic titles like Tegami Bachi and “I’LL”. This new art book aptly titled “The Long Journey’s Diary” is a celebration of the artist’s 35 years in the manga industry since his start in 1986. Back in 2011, he also published “Water”, which was his 25th work anniversary.
Asada’s colored illustrations are stunning to be sure, but his detailed line-work is equally impressive, and this new art book is a great showcase of all these line art drawings. The small preview images I’ve included below does not do the actual art work justice; for they are much more detailed and in higher fidelity when reading the actual book. I’ll say about 70% of the book feature line art work, and the rest featuring full colored illustrations.
A splendid collection of manga artist Hiroyuki Asada’s illustrations, in particular line art / drawings. Recommended.
I also recommended checking out his 2011 art book “WATER”.
