Ryota-H Art Works is the first art book by the prolific Japanese illustrator, whose huge portfolio of work includes Fate/Grand order, TWIN HEAD, Arcdia, Little Witch Academia, LORD of VERMILION and more. The artist’s work often takes on an epic scale, with a huge number of characters populating the canvas, but at the same time sacrificing none of the detail. In some ways his composition remind me of the large scale pieces by Alex Ross.

Many of the minute details and sharpness of the images are actually lost in these scaled down preview images – they appear much more impactful when viewed at the print size of the book.

(above & below) As typical of most Japanese monograph art books these days, the volume comes with a short instructional section on a select piece of art work ( often times the cover art ), as well as an interview with the artist.

A skilled illustrator with a versatile style. I look forward to seeing more of the artist’s works in the future.
