Taschen’s expansive monograph ( 424 pages covering over 400 pieces of art work ) for famed English comic book artist/designer Jamie Hewlett explores in detail the huge gamut of art work created by the artist since the Tank Girl era ( 1988 ) through Gorillaz and right up to the present day.

I am only somewhat familiar with the imagery he has created for Gorillaz, but seeing the massive scope and incredible versatility of the artist’s illustration style really blows me away. Covering over 25 years of Jamie Hewlett’s work, this 2nd edition from Taschen also features a new book cover art.

In some ways, Jamie Hewlett’s art reminds me of Rockin’ Jelly Bean’s work, and while the latter’s art is more overtly sexual they both contain that raw, unhinged energy in their imagery.

(above) The sketches and drawings on the last few pages of the book are printed on frost/tracing paper and looks great.

This is an excellent volume to enjoy Jamie Hewlett’s incredible art, all conveniently collected in one giant hard cover book; highly recommended. I want to thank Mallory from Taschen Books for sending me a copy of this book for review.
