An expanded edition of Taschen’s previously titled History of Horror Cinema book, this handy sized, 640 pages volume curates the very creepiest screen creations from the flickering spooks of the 1920s to the VFX terrors of the 21st century.
The first half of the book delves into films associated with the numerous horror genres like Slashers & Serial Killers, Nature/Environmental Horrors, Sci-fi Horrors, Supernatural and more. The later half of the book is a collection of 50 top horror films as selected by the authors, complete with movie posters, set designs, film stills, and on-set shots.
I’ve always enjoyed Taschen’s selection of books on cinema, in particular the “Movies Of” series that showcase and study the iconic and defining films of the past decades. Reading these books have greatly expanded my exposure to new films and this volume is perfect for folks on the search for that next great horror film that will keep them awake the whole night. Recommended.
