Adored by animation fans all over the world, Ghibli Studio’s anime films have captured the imagination of both children and adults alike with its captivating stories and endearing characters.
The Ghibli Museum, located in Mitaka, Tokyo is a wonderful extension of these films. The brainchild of director Miyazaki Hayao, the museum’s slogan is “Let’s get lost together” ( 迷子になろうよ、いっしょに ), derived from the man’s vision for visitors to immerse themselves in his imagination and film work.
This hard cover book showcases photographs in and around the museum, from it’s lovely facade, the beautiful stained glass windows to the catbus playground, the rooftop garden with the robot from Castle In The Sky and more. When visiting, photography is not allowed in most of the areas inside the museum, so his book serves as an excellent memorabilia for those who want to re-live their visit to the museum, or as a preview for those who have yet to visit.
(image above) There are 2 shops located in the museum, Mama Aiuto!, which is the souvenir shop proper, and this one, which sell art books. During my visits I would spend an inordinate amount of time in this store, because as you know, I’m a sucker for art books.
