American Hero Press has launched a new series of curated, themed collector books; titled ‘The Frazetta Gallery Series’, they feature the legendary artist Frank Frazetta’s masterpieces in frameable gallery format. The first book from the series- ‘Terror’ features 60’s-70’s horror magazine paintings, paperback and hardcover paintings showcasing some of the most iconic and recognizable nightmares creatures, from vampires, werewolves to the Mothman, Frankenstein’s monster and many more.
These books are officially licensed productions from the Frank Frazetta Estate and the Frazetta Art Museum in East Stroudsburg, PA. Each book is designed and printed with the highest quality from first-generation files.
American Hero Press very graciously sent me a copy of the slipcased hardcover edition for review, and it is spectacular. For starters, the print quality is excellent, certainly on par ( at the very least ) with the Taschen ‘The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta’ giant monograph that I reviewed previously.
Also worth noting is the giant print size ( 11.25” x 15” ), which really shows off Frazetta’s stunning art to great effect, and printed on heavyweight 200gsm art board. Check out the some preview images below –

(above) The big hardcover book is housed in a very thick and sturdy slipcase. ( below ) A beautiful lenticular print is included with this edition.

– Die-cast Frazetta Horror Medallion, finished in a raised-relief graphite silver with red and white color enhancements. 3.5” in diameter and permanently affixed to the slipcase
The slipcase is assembled with a leatherette Midnight Graveyard Black material over the ultra-weight 3mm boards and decorated on both sides with 2 color foil stamping. The size of the books are worth noting. They are larger than the standard 9×12 or 10×12 art books and certainly considerably more impressive than a standard 8.5×11 sheet of paper. This also means the books will fit on many standard bookshelves and will be easy to browse – and enjoy the art – again and again!
This exquisite book is for the most discerning collectors of Frank Frazetta’s art work. Recommended.

I want to thank Stefan Blitz from the Frazetta Gallery / American Hero Press again for sending me this copy of the book for review.

A beautiful tome, but I’m going to try to find the Taschen collection used or on sale.
I came across a great quote from Frazetta by happenstance:
“Everybody knocks my female figures. They say they’re overblown, that women don’t look like my paintings. But you can’t deny some women do look like that. I don’t want to paint just another woman. A painting, it’s something important; you want to look at it, maybe forever. who wants to look at just an ordinary hero forever? You want the ultimate, you pull out all the stops and do everything in extremes. The extreme in beauty, if it fits; the extreme in ugliness if it fits; the extreme in terror if this is what’s required. You know, I think this is one reason that so many people enjoy my stuff, because all of these extremes are jammed into it.”

I LOVE that Frazetta continues to get the love! The Taschen volume is incredible, as you note in your review of that book. I would not willingly part with my copy.
That said, I can see myself indulging in additional variations on the theme like these editions!

Doctor Blood – That’s an awesome quote ! I myself find his female figures very attractive, haha.
Chris – Yep, the Taschen volume is still pretty definitive alright. This series is targeted more for collectors who want that extra high print quality and added features.

Great Book!
Lucky you that have the limited edition!
I already own the Taschen book in the maximum size, but this one should be a great addition.
Unfortunately I cannot find it in Italy/europe at the moment and purchasing directly from USA can means many months of waiting and uncertain custom costs.
In anycase:
Since I am a loyal fan of Frazetta, I must convert to Adidas after the published photo….:))
