Kon Satoshi's Paprika Storyboard Book Coming in Aug 2017.

Japanese publisher Fukkan will be releasing the storyboard book for Kon Satoshi’s animated masterpiece Paprika on August 25th, 2017. Pre-orders can be made on Amazon Japan here.

The storyboards were also available previously as part of the Paprika Japanese limited edition dvd boxset, but this is the first time they will be released as a proper publication.

Some details about the book :

– Full storyboards from Paprika (628 pages), with additional content that includes interviews with Kon Satoshi, Tsutsui Yasutaka and an essay by anime critic Ryusuke Hikawa.

– Total page count : About 700 pages

– Book dimensions : A5 ( 148 x 210 mm / 5.8 x 8.3 in )

– Expected retail price : 3780 ( about 37 USD )

Fukkan also published the storyboards for Kon Satoshi’s first animated feature Pefect Blue.

Kon Satoshi’s Storyboards seems like if you scanned them in and played it back frame by frame it would play like it was animated. What a great work of art and a brilliant director.
