It’s A Man’s World – Men’s Adventure Magazines, The Postwar Pulps is a collection of illustrations from the seedy 35 cents pulp magazines that were popular during the post WWII years, targeted at veterans to help confront the confusion of jobs, girls, and the Cold War.

The book features an expansive number of illustrations from magazines like Man’s Exploits, Rage, and Escape to Adventure, spread across 320 pages of full colored reproductions.

Viewed in modern context the illustrations and themes are utterly racist, xenophobic and misogynistic, but it’s interesting as a topic of study and worth looking at today because “they tell us so much about American working-class fears, desires and wet dreams.”

I also recommend another art book on pulps – Sex And Horror – The Art Of Emanuele Taglietti.
