Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn : The Art Of Eorzea ( ファイナルファンタジーXIV: 新生エオルゼア) is the official art book for the MMORPG game by Square Enix, featuring a huge collection of illustrations and art work created during production of the game.
Helming the art team is character designer/illusrator Akihiko Yoshida, who also bought us such amazing art work in Bravely Default and Tactics Ogre.
This huge colume collects over 1000 pieces of art work divided into the following chapters : IMAGE ART / CHARACTER / ENEMIES / MOUNTS & MINIONS / HOUSING / WORLD / SKETCH / BONUS ART.
(above & below) There’s tons of art work dedicated to character designs, props and costume configurations.
(above & below) The stage and world setting illustrations are breathtakingly beautiful.
(above & below) And in the final chapter are gorgeous sketches by Akihiko Yoshida for misc character designs, sets and etc. Beautiful stuff.
(above) The huge volume is a soft cover but comes with a clear plastic dust jacket that makes handling of the book less flimsy.
Content wise it’s really a bonanza of great FF art work and any fan of Akihiko Yoshida’ will definitely want to pick this one up. Many, but not all of the art work also come with English captions. Highly recommended.
Also be sure to check out Akihiko’s art work for Bravely Default and Tactics Ogre.

How likely is this to get a US release? Is there worthwhile text to miss out on?

Ian – Unfortunately I’m unsure of the release of the US version, but I forgot to mention that many, although not all of the art work and illustrations come with English captions even in this Japanese edition. :]
