Not unlike the menagerie of magical creatures featured in J.K Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, creature designer Yamamura Le’s first and aptly titled art book Creatures showcase more than 100 fantastical animals designed by the artist. Yamamura’s imaginative and beautifully illustrated beasts quickly garnered a big following on twitter with the trending hashtag #東京CREATURES, as well as his equally popular doujinshi featuring said illustrations. These creations are now collected into this delightful art book.

Anyone fond of imaginative creature designs will certainly find this of interest. I also enjoy the artist’s impressive color sense, which really ups the appeal of his designs. Recommended.
