Rockin’ Jelly Bean (real name unknown) is a Japanese illustrator well known for his Lowbrow art, often featuring overtly sexualized, naked women. This book contains a sprawling collection of his fantastic artwork that runs the gamut from records and label covers, flyers, to movie posters, action figure concept art and personal sketches.

(above left) The book consists of mainly art work with the occasional page of text, detailing background information on the illustrations, both in English & Japanese language.

(above) I especially enjoy his pencil sketches – behind the flashy, psychedelic colors of his usual illustrations is an accomplished draftsman at work.

I’ve seen Rockin’ Jelly Bean’s art work from time to time but it is with this book that I’ve come to appreciate the wide scope and variety of his artistic venture. This beautiful hardcover volume collects over 200 pages of his illustrations and comes highly recommended.
