Record Of Lodoss War – The Lady Of Pharis (ロードス島戦記 ファリスの聖女) is a manga illustrated by renowned Japanese artist Yamada Akihiro ( RahXephon, 12 Kingdoms ), based on the novel by Ryo Mizuno, which also spawned a popular anime TV series during the mid 90s.
This Complete Edition splits the Tankobon into 2 volumes, and comes with an additional appendix featuring beautiful illustrations from the manga, housed in a thin cardboard slipcase. ( more images below ),
The print size and format of the manga is similar to a typical US trade paperback, with crisp and bold images that really show off Akihiro-san’s detailed art work to great effect.
(below) The additional appendix volume ( black cover ) contains gorgeous color illustrations and some very detailed graphite drawings created for the manga.
I’ve been waiting for a reprint of this manga for a very long time and this is everything I’ve hoped for, featuring some of Yamada Akihiro’s best works ( with the exception of maybe this ). The price is a little higher than I expected, but this is the definite edition to get. Recommended.

I guess it’s true. Mangakas don’t make fantasy comics like they used to.

The Record of Lodoss War OVA series is still my favorite anime. Not the best anime ever made, but the most pleasing to me and a watershed moment in my anime viewing career. The character designs, the magnificent score, its heart.
This manga looks pretty great too.

Very cool. I think this will be a must purchase for me. Regarding translation, I wonder if a Dark Horse or Udon might pick something like this up for US release. In any case, the MadHouse OVA from the early 90s is one of my all time favorite animes, so this pulls at me hard.

Wow. Don’t know who this guy is nor what this story is all about but i really dig the art in here. The japanese version of Red Sonja/Conan/Master Of The Universe from the west. Very interesting.

There is in fact an English edition of this manga. I think it’s out-of print now because the price on Amazon is A LOT more expensive than what I bought it for. Here’s the link
http://www.amazon.com/Record-Lodoss-War-Pharis-Collectors/dp/1586648977/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1446763854&sr=8-3&keywords=lady+of+pharis
That edition is regular manga size. To be honest, I didn’t like the story of the manga too much, so my personal opinion is that you’re not losing much if you buy the japanese version

I love this blog!! Been following it for years. Never posted before but I had to express how glad I am to see this entry, as my strange obsession with “Lady of Pharis” has finally been validated by another human. Even now, it’s tattered remnants are within reach of my drawing table. Keep up the good work!
