One of the prized finds during my recent time in Tokyo – the Dragon Magazine Special volume of Patlabor art works by the series character design Akemi Takada, released all the way back in 1990. This particular copy I found in the BookOff near JR Shinjuku East exit for about 5 bucks.

The book features lots of beautiful illustrations featuring the members of the Police Special Vehicle Section 2 like Noa, Kanuka, Asuma and Gotoh. A foldout poster is also included.

Definitely one for Patlabor fans. The book has been out of print for the longest time but used copies can be found on Amazon for very low prices. There’s also another Patlabor art book titled Now Or Never which I’ve yet to come across, but it does seem to cover even more art work by Akemi.
