Children Of The Sea Manga Gets Anime Adaptation

Children Of The Sea, the multiple award winning manga by Daisuke Igarashi will soon be adapted into an anime film by Studio 4°C ( Mind Game, Tekkon Kinkreet ), and music written by Joe Hisaishi. Check out the teaser below –

I’ve always been a big fan of Daisuke Igarashi’s illustrations ( check out my review of his art book here ), so I’m really looking forward to this adaptation, especially with the production by done by some of the best names in the industry – Joe Hisaishi, who wrote the music for most of Ghibli’s animated films, and the legendary art director Kimura Shinji, who painted the astonishing background art in Tekkon Kinkreet.

The film is slated for a June 2019 release.

I have the full run of the US release of the manga, but just haven’t gotten around to reading them yet. Maybe now is a good time.

Good news. The movie seems beautiful, and faithful to the authors’ style.

Hope the movie will have a release in the west …
… and hope this will encourage western publishers to release his untraslated manga (his latest series, “Designs” looks interesting).
