Sony Pictures has finally unveiled the release date for the highly anticipated Spider-Man : Beyond The Spider-Verse animated film; set on June 4th 2027. This is the third in the trilogy of the Spider-Verse animated films, the 2018 Spider-Man : Into The Spider-Verse and 2023 Spider-Man : Across The Spider-Verse. At the time of writing this post, the release date is still more than 2 years away and while that might sound like a long wait, speaking as a visual effects artist who has worked on the first two films, it is not a particularly long time to complete a really complex and challenging project. I speak a little about why production takes so long in this twitter thread below –

While I can’t elaborate on any further details about project, I can say that very talented animation artists are working super hard to make a film that will top the quality of the first two, and surely that is a film worth waiting 2 years for. I’m excited to share any ( publicly released ) information on the film moving forward.

While we’re talking about the Spider-Verse films, I highly recommend checking out the art of books for both Spider-Man : Into The Spider-Verse as well as Spider-Man : Across The Spider-Verse. The amazing concept art work created by the visdev ( visual development ) team drives and feeds all the other departments in the production pipeline, without which there will be no movie.
