For the past 6 months or so I’ve been working on Spider-Man : Across The Spider-verse, Marvel/Sony Pictures Animation’s sequel to the 2018 oscar winning film Spider-Man : Into The Spider-verse. The latest trailer for the film was just released this week; check it out below –
In this trailer I worked on the lighting and compositing for the shot around the 1:02 mark, where Miles Morales somersaults onto a webbed up yellow cab in New York City ( image above ). The animation and visual effects for this sequel is considerably more complex and ambitious than the first film, so I really have my work cut out for me, but I also know the end product is going to look spectacular.
This is actually the 4th Spider-man film I’ve worked on since I joined Sony Imageworks back in 2015; MCU’s Homecoming, Far From Home as well as the first Spiderverse film. I’m really happy to have worked on all of them.
Spider-Man : Across The Spider-verse will be out on June 2nd, 2023. It’s quite a wait, but I promise you it’s going to be worth it !

Awesome work dude! I will hopefully see this in theatres, as a loved the first instalment. I think the first film had such a positive impact on the impact on the commercial animation space, and I can’t wait to see what the next couple of Spider-verse films have to offer. I’m not much of a Marvel guy, I admit, but I definitely make an exception for these.

Coffee – Thank you ! And yes, the first film definitely broke new ground in terms of the what animation can look like, hopefully this new one will do the same !
