Seriously, I cannot remember the last time I was this excited for a Pixar animated film. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve certainly enjoyed the studio’s recent releases like Soul and Luca, but the just released teaser for Lightyear really blew me away. Check it out below –

Lightyear is of course based on one of the titular characters from Pixar’s first animated film Toy Story, released in 1995, and indeed the first entirely computer-animated feature film in history; no mean feat. While the visual and character design of Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story series is certainly fantastic, it was still limited by the confines of the narrative in that it is a toy; this new film completely shatters the creative shackles on that limitation and the results are clearly visible in the teaser; showcasing a much more realistic and complex universe that is utterly exciting.

Summer 2022 cannot come soon enough !
